Public Notices of Accreditation Actions 2000-2023

In accordance with the standing of the Board of Regents and Commissioner of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency through May 9, 2023, the Board of Regents took the following accreditation actions:

  • On April 12, 2021, accepted the request from Christie’s Education, Inc., to surrender, in whole, its degree-conferring authority, effective April 13, 2021, thereby ending its term of institutional accreditation.Ěý

  • Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing voluntarily withdrew from institutional accreditation by the Board of Regents and Commissioner of Education, effective March 31, 2019.
  • Memorial College of Nursing voluntarily withdrew from institutional accreditation by the Board of Regents and Commissioner of Education, effective March 31, 2019.
  • New York Academy of Art voluntarily withdrew from institutional accreditation by the Board of Regents and Commissioner of Education, effective March 31, 2019.
  • On September 18, 2018, approved a change in scope of accreditation for Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary, in recognition of the institution’s authorization to offer degrees at the master's level.
  • On June 12, 2018, granted Long Island Business Institute initial accreditation with conditions for a period of three years.
  • On February 13, 2018, renewed the accreditation of Christie’s Education, Inc. with conditions for a period of five years.
  • On February 13, 2018, renewed the accreditation of The Rockefeller University with conditions for a period of ten years.
  • Effective June 30, 2017, Utica School of Commerce closed, thereby terminating its accreditation.
  • On June 13, 2017, renewed the accreditation of the Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary with conditions for a period of three years.
  • New York Career Institute has set a closure date of May 31, 2017, thereby terminating its accreditation as of that date.
  • On January 10, 2017, approved a change in the scope of accreditation for Fei Tian College, in recognition of the institution’s authorization to offer degrees at the master's level.
  • On January 10, 2017, denied the renewal of accreditation of Bramson ORT College.
  • Effective September 15, 2016, Globe Institute of Technology closed, thereby terminating its accreditation.
  • Technical Career Institutes voluntarily withdrew from institutional accreditation by the Board of Regents and Commissioner of Education, effective September 9, 2016.
  • Northeastern Seminary voluntarily withdrew from institutional accreditation by the Board of Regents and Commissioner of Education, effective September 6, 2016.
  • On June 14, 2016, approved a change in scope of accreditation for Utica School of Commerce, in recognition of the institution’s authorization to offer instruction via distance education.
  • Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary voluntarily withdrew from institutional accreditation by the Board of Regents and Commissioner of Education, effective June 1, 2016.
  • On January 12, 2016, renewed the accreditation of the American Museum of Natural History—Richard Gilder Graduate School for a period of ten years.
  • On January 12, 2016, renewed the accreditation of the Elmezzi Graduate School of Molecular Medicine with conditions for a period of five years.
  • On December 15, 2015, approved a change in the scope of accreditation for the American Museum of Natural History, in recognition of the institution’s authorization to offer a Master of Arts in Teaching program.
  • The Institute of Design and Construction voluntarily withdrew from institutional accreditation by the Board of Regents and Commissioner of Education, effective July 10, 2015.
  • On May 19, 2015, approved a change in scope of accreditation for Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing, to include delivery of liberal arts and sciences courses.
  • On March 17, 2015, renewed the institutional accreditation of Louis V. Gerstner, Jr., Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center for a period of seven years.
  • On December 16, 2014, renewed the institutional accreditation of The Salvation Army College for Officer Training for a period of seven years.
  • On September 16, 2014, renewed the institutional accreditation of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory for a period of seven years.
  • The Union Graduate College voluntarily withdrew from institutional accreditation by the Board of Regents and Commissioner of Education, effective September 10, 2014.
  • On April 29, 2014, renewed the accreditation of Technical Career Institutes, Inc., with conditions for a period of three years.
  • On February 11, 2014, granted Fei Tian College initial accreditation without conditions for a period of five years.
  • On February 11, 2014, approved a change in scope of accreditation for Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing, to include registered baccalaureate programs in the field of nursing.
  • On December 17, 2013, granted Bramson ORT College probationary accreditation for a period of two years.
  • On June 18, 2013, renewed the institutional accreditation of New York Academy of Art for a period of seven years.
  • By letter dated February 12, 2013, The American Academy of Dramatic Arts voluntarily withdrew from institutional accreditation by the Board of Regents and Commissioner of Education.
  • On December 11, 2012, granted institutional accreditation to The New Community College at CUNY for a period of five years.
  • On December 11, 2012, renewed the institutional accreditation of New York College of Health Professions with conditions for a period of two years.
  • On June 19, 2012, renewed the institutional accreditation of Utica School of Commerce with conditions for a period of ten years.
  • On June 19, 2012, renewed the institutional accreditation of Christie's Education, Inc., with conditions for a period of five years.
  • On January 10, 2012, granted institutional accreditation to Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing for a period of five years.
  • On June 21, 2011, renewed the institutional accreditation of New York Career Institute without conditions for a period of five years ending on June 30, 2016.
  • On June 21, 2011, granted institutional accreditation with conditions to Memorial School of Nursing for a period of three years ending June 30, 2014.
  • On June 21, 2011, granted institutional accreditation with conditions to Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing for a period of three years ending June 30, 2014.
  • Effective July 20, 2010, The King's College voluntarily withdrew from institutional accreditation.
  • Effective December 31, 2009, Sunbridge College voluntarily withdrew from institutional accreditation.
  • On November 17, 2009, granted institutional accreditation to the American Museum of Natural History, Richard Gilder Graduate School for a period of five years ending on November 17, 2014.
  • On January 13, 2009, renewed the institutional accreditation of Globe Institute of Technology, with condition, beginning January 13, 2009 and ending January 31, 2013.
  • On December 16, 2008, renewed the institutional accreditation of Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, beginning December 16, 2008 and ending December 30, 2013.
  • On May 20, 2008, granted institutional accreditation to Louis V. Gerstner, Jr., Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for a period of six years, beginning May 20, 2008 and ending May 19, 2014.
  • On May 20, 2008, renewed institutional accreditation to Northeastern Seminary for a period of 10 years, beginning May 20, 2008, and ending May 19, 2018.
  • On May 20, 2008, renewed institutional accreditation, with condition, to New York Career Institute for a period of three years, beginning May 20, 2008, and ending May 19, 2011.
  • On October 21, 2007, voted to place Sunbridge College on probationary accreditation for a period of two years to December 31, 2009, with a progress report due by July 31, 2008.
  • On May 22, 2007, renewed the institutional accreditation of Technical Career Institutes for five years effective May 22, 2007 to May 22, 2012.
  • On May 22, 2007, granted institutional accreditation with conditions to New York College of Health Professions for a period of three years beginning immediately and ending on May 22, 2010.
  • On May 22, 2007, granted institutional accreditation with conditions to Christie’s, Inc. for a period of five years beginning immediately and ending on May 22, 2012.
  • On February 13, 2007, renewed the accreditation of The Rockefeller University for a period of ten years ending on February 12, 2017.
  • Effective January 23, 2007, Interboro Institute, New York, NY voluntarily withdrew from institutional accreditation.
  • On May 21, 2006, extended the term of accreditation of Technical Career Institutes for one year, effective May 21, 2006 to May 21, 2007.
  • On February 14, 2006, renewed the institutional accreditation of North Shore - Long Island Jewish Graduate School of Molecular Medicine, with condition, effective February 14, 2006 until February 14, 2013.
  • On February 14, 2006, renewed the institutional accreditation of the New York Academy of Art, effective February 14, 2006 until February 14, 2012.
  • On July 21, 2005, renewed the institutional accreditation of The King’s College, with condition, effective July 21, 2005, and ending on July 20, 2010.
  • On May 17, 2005, renewed institutional accreditation of Globe Institute of Technology with condition for a period of three years.
  • On March 15, 2005, extended the expiration date of the terms of accreditation of The New York Academy of Art from May 21, 2005 to May 21, 2006.
  • On March 15, 2005, extended the expiration date of the terms of accreditation of Technical Career Institutes from May 21, 2005 to May 21, 2006.
  • On March 15, 2005, renewed the institutional accreditation of The King’s College for one year effective March 18, 2005 and ending March 17, 2006.
  • On January 11, 2005, granted institutional accreditation to The Salvation Army School for Officer Training for a period of 10 years.
  • On January 11, 2005, renewed institutional accreditation with condition to Wood/Tobe- Coburn School, Inc. for a period of ten years.
  • On September 10, 2004, granted institutional accreditation to the Graduate College of Union University for a period of 10 years.
  • On June 22, 2004, voted that the Board of Regents approve the Subcommittee’s report and recommendation to dismiss Gamla’s appeal and affirm the Regents determination of December 12, 2003 to deny the extension of the institutional accreditation of Gamla College.
  • On June 17, 2003, renewed institutional accreditation of Interboro Institute for a period of five years, beginning October 1, 2003 and ending September 30, 2008 subject to the conditions recommended by the Regents Advisory Council on Institutional Accreditation.
  • On December 12, 2002, confirmed and extended institutional accreditation of New York Career Institute for a period of five years.
  • On December 12, 2002, confirmed and extended, with conditions, institutional accreditation of Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary for a period of five years.
  • On December 12, 2002, approved renewal of institutional accreditation of Bramson ORT College subject to reporting requirements for a period of ten years.
  • On December 12, 2002, confirmed and extended, with conditions, institutional accreditation of Bryant and Stratton Business Institute campuses in Albany, Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse pending a determination by the Secretary of Education of whether or not the institution meets the Federal standards of financial responsibility and requests that the Advisory Council review at its spring 2003 meeting Bryant and Stratton's compliance with accreditation standards and make such report and recommendation to the Regents as may be warranted by the Institute's circumstances at that time.

  • On March 19, 2002, extended institutional accreditation of Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary for a period of five years.
  • On March 19, 2002, extended institutional accreditation of The King's College for a period of three years.
  • On March 19, 2002, extended institutional accreditation of Picower Graduate School of Molecular Medicine for a period of four years.
  • On March 19, 2002, extended institutional accreditation of The Rockefeller University for a period of five years.
  • On March 19, 2002, extended institutional accreditation of Sunbridge College for a period of five years.
  • On March 19, 2002, extended institutional accreditation of Wood/Tobe-Coburn School for a period of three years.
  • On December 20, 2001, approved renewal of institutional accreditation of American Academy of Dramatic Arts for a period of ten years.

  • On October 5, 2001, approved the renewal of institutional accreditation of Interboro Institute on a probationary basis for a period not to exceed two years from October 5, 2001.
  • On November 10, 2000, deferred renewal of institutional accreditation for Bramson ORT College for a period ending not later than December 31, 2002.
