FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Statement From Chancellor Lester W. Young, Jr., the Board of Regents, and Commissioner Betty A. Rosa on the Anniversary of the September 11 Attacks
On this solemn anniversary of September 11, 2001, the Board of Regents and the Viva88Education Department pause to remember the lives lost, the selfless bravery of the first responders, and the resilience of our communities. Twenty-three years ago, we faced an unimaginable tragedy that forever changed the course of history, and today we honor the memory of those who perished.
As educators, it is our responsibility to ensure that future generations understand the significance of this day and the values it represents: unity, empathy, knowledge, and compassion. Today, as our schools engage in meaningful discussions as a tribute of remembrance about the events of 9/11, let us continue to support one another, foster understanding, and strive for a future where peace prevails. We stand in solidarity today to say, "Never forget" and "Always in our hearts."
